Nights Into Dreams Game Review: Nights into Dreams is an action game. It was released by Sega in the year 1996 for the Sega Saturn video game system. Nights into Dreams' story follows 2 children entering a dream world. In this dream world, they are aided by the main character, Nights. The Nights was developed by Sonic Team, with Yuji Naka as lead programmer & producer, & Naoto Ōshima as the director & character designer. The developers' intention was to make the sensation of flight the central game-play element, gain through 3D graphics & a combination of both 2D & 3D game-play. There are 2 parts of the dream world; Nightmare and Nightopia. Every night, all human dreams are played out in Nightmare & Nightopia. In Nightopia, different aspects of dreamers' personalities are represented by luminous colored spheres known as Ideya. Wizeman the Wicked, who is the evil ruler of Nightmare, is stealing this dream energy from sleeping visitors to gather power to take control of Nightopia & the real world. For this, he creates numerous beings called "Nightmaren", including 2 Nightmaren called NIGHTS & REALA. However, Nights rebels against Wizeman's plans, & is punished by being imprisoned inside an Ideya palace. Nights into Dreams is divided into 7 levels, referred to as "Dreams". All the levels are distributed equally between the 2 child characters; 3 are unique to Claris, 3 to Elliot, & each play through an identical final 7th level, "Twin Seeds". In the beginning, only Claris' Spring Valley & Elliot's Splash Garden are available. If the player completes one of these, it unlocks the next level in that child's path.
