Planescape: Torment Review: Planescape: Torment is a role-playing video game. It has been developed for Microsoft Windows by Black Isle Studios & released on 12 December, 1999 by Interplay Entertainment. Planescape: Torment takes place in locations from the multiverse of Planescape, Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D) fantasy campaign setting. Planescape: Torment's engine is a modified version of the Infinity Engine, which was used for BioWare's Baldur's Gate also, a previous AD&D game set in the Forgotten Realms. The game is primarily story-driven; the combat is given less prominence than in most contemporary role-playing games. Protagonist, known as The Nameless One is an immortal who has lived many lives but has forgotten all about them including his own name. Planescape: Torment focuses on his journey through the city of Sigil & other planes to reclaim his memories of these previous lives. Many characters in the game may join The Nameless One on his journey, & most of these characters have encountered him in the past or have been influenced by this person's actions in some way.
