Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Game Review: Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is a 1st person tactical military game developed by British game developer Codemasters for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation. Codemasters has advertised "Dragon Rising" as a tactical shooter designed to represent modern infantry combat realistically. Dragon Rising takes place on the fictional island of Skira, in the month of May, 2011. After the Global Economic Crisis causes political destabilization & mass unemployment in China, the PLA seize control of Skira & the vast, discovered reservoir of oil there from the Russian Federation. The peace talks prove useless as both combatants lay claim to Skira due to previous ownership of it. Situation deteriorates quickly & China begins to fortify its Northern provinces in anticipation of armed conflict with Russia. Russia countering the PLA on the Chinese mainland, calls to the US to retake Skira from the Chinese. America agrees because it was bound by treaty arrangements made after the end of the Cold War & then 2 biggest armies in the world begin to clash on the island. As the game advances, the player has to fight off enemy forces along with his fire team & allied soldiers. In Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, there are over 70 weapons, all supported by a realistic ballistics system, most are not readily accessible to the player. Weapons ranges from pistols & sub-machine guns to artillery & large bombs. In the game, there are 50 different air, land, & sea vehicles, including tanks, boats, helicopters, & APCs along with a few weapons and vehicles which can't be used directly. Most of the vehicles are not accessible to the player outside of the PC mission editor.
