18 Wheels of Steel Across America Review: 18 Wheels of Steel is sometimes abbreviated as 18 WoS. 18 Wheels of Steel is a series of trucking simulators published by ValueSoft & developed by SCS Software. The series currently has eight installments and despite being released as budget games, the game series has surprisingly high production values. 18 Wheels of Steel: Across America was released in the year 2003. This installment is much similar to Hard Truck: 18 Wheels of Steel except the graphics, that were updated, more trucks & cargo were added, & a new map was created that enables users to travel across the entire continental United States, through thirty cities. In 18 Wheels of Steel: Across America, the players can choose from 30 trucks & 40+ trailers. Trucks each blow brownish coloured exhaust from their stacks when their engines are operated above 2500 RPM. This feature of the game makes no sense & when the camera is set to follow the truck, smoke makes it hard to see sometimes. The time is made up of a total of twenty four minutes in a day in the clock, & goes by rather quickly. The player will also battle 5 AI drivers. 18 Wheels of Steel: Across America focuses on the delivery of cargo. The sleep timer was removed from the simulation. In 18 Wheels of Steel: Across America, an improved traffic model as well as helicopters, planes & trains with authentic sounds. The game also features the fastest fuel consumption when driving a truck.
