Doom 2: Hell on Earth Game Review: Doom 2: Hell on Earth is an award winning 1st person shooter video game & the 2nd title of id Software's Doom franchise.Doom 2 was originally released for MS-DOS computers in 1994 & Macintosh computers in 1995. Macintosh version was developed in Austin, Texas by developers such as the Brett Butler. Doom 2: Hell on Earth was a commercial release sold in stores. Doom 2's Master Levels, is an expansion pack that includes 21 new levels, has been released on 26 December, 1995 by id Software. Due to its popularity & success, Doom 2 was later released for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, Tapwave Zodiac in 2004, & on Xbox Live Arcade in 2010. Doom 2: Hell on Earth's original source code release has facilitated ports to many other platforms, including Apple iPod, & several types of cellphones. On 13 August, during the QuakeCon 2009 media conference, it was announced that the Doom 2 would be ported to Xbox Live Arcade, & was released in May the following year. Doom 2 was not dramatically different from its predecessor. There were not major graphical improvements, technological developments, or substantial gameplay changes. Doom 2: Hell on Earth still consisted of the player navigating large non-linear levels and each level is infested with hellish demons that can be killed with a various weapons that can be picked up throughout the game. All levels are completed by finding the exit, whether it be an elevator, a door, etc. The main objective of the game is simply to advance to the next area. Doom 2: Hell on Earth's levels can be completed in a somewhat linear fashion, though, because the levels are non-linear players can wander off the beaten path, & those that do are often rewarded with bonuses, such as health pickups & more powerful weapons.
