Left 4 Dead Game Review: Left 4 Dead is also abbreviated as L4D. It is a cooperative 1st person shooter arcade-style video game. The game was developed by Turtle Rock Studios, which had been purchased by Valve Corporation during development. Left 4 Dead uses Valve's proprietary Source engine, & is available for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Xbox 360. The development on the game was completed on 13th of November, 2008, & 2 versions were released digitally: A downloadable digital version was released on 17th of November, 2008, & a digital retail disc version was released on the date determined by region. On 18th of November, 2008, the digital retail disc version was released in North America & Australia. The digital retail disc version game was released in Europe & Japan on 21 November, 2008. Left 4 Dead is set during the aftermath of an apocalyptic pandemic, the game pits its 4 protagonists, dubbed the "Survivors" against hordes of the infected. There are 4 game modes included as a single-player mode in which the allied characters are controlled by AI, a 4 player, co-op campaign mode, an 8 player online versus mode, & a 4 player survival mode. In all the modes, an artificial intelligence, dubbed the "Director", and controls level pacing & item placements, in attempt to create a dynamic experience & increase replay value.
