Quake 2 Game Review: Quake 2 is a 1st person shooter video game. The game was developed by id Software & distributed by Activision. It's not a direct sequel to Quake; it merely use the name of the former game due to id's difficulties in coming up with alternative names. The Quake 2 's soundtrack was mainly provided by Sonic Mayhem, with few additional tracks by Bill Brown. The next game released having a title Quake 3 Arena, is not considered to be related to Quake or Quake 2 as it is multiplayer focused, & has a dissimilar storyline. A direct sequel, named as Quake IV, was released for the Microsoft Windows & Linux, & later for the Xbox 360 & the Macintosh. A prequel to Quake 2, titled as Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, is produced by Splash Damage. The game is played in general 1st-person shooter paradigms, in which player shoots enemies from the perspective of the main character. Quake 2's gameplay is very similar to that featured in Quake, in terms of controls & movements, although the player has been slowed down, & now has the ability to crouch. Quake 2 retains 4 of the original Quake's weapons included as Shotgun, Grenade Launcher, Super Shotgun, & Rocket Launcher, although they all were redesigned & made to function in slightly different ways. The Quake's remainder 8 weapons including Axe,  Super Nailgun, Nailgun, & Thunderbolt are gone. Some newly introduced weapons are the Machine Gun, blaster, Hyperblaster, Chain Gun, Railgun & BFG10K.
