Need for Speed: Underground Review: Need for Speed: Underground is the 7th racing game in the Need for Speed video game series. The game is developed by EA Black Box & published by Electronic Arts in 2003. Need for Speed: Underground was the 1st Need for Speed game to be released in Japan since Need for Speed: High Stakes. The game is a complete reboot for the series featuring a heavy emphasis on tuner culture & a storyline-driven career mode. Each race take place in a generic city at night. The game featured vehicles associated with the import scene. The game was commercially successful, & inspired a sequel. The circuit is a standard race that involves racing with up to 4 opponents' cars around a loop track for one lap or more, & is the main mode of the game. For about last 4 races of underground mode, number of players decreases to only 1 rival, & the number of laps reach up to 7. The Knockout Mode is similar to previous Need for Speed titles, and involves "knocking out" the last racer who passes the starting line in each lap until final leader of the race remains, & wins the race. Knockout sessions have a maximum of 3 laps for 4 racers.
