Sleeping Dogs Review: Sleeping Dogs is a 2012 open world action and adventure video game. It was developed by United Front Games in conjunction with Square Enix London Studios. The game was published by Square Enix, and released on 14th of August, 2012, for PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows, & Xbox 360. Sleeping Dogs takes place in Hong Kong & focuses on an undercover operation to infiltrate the Triads. In Sleeping Dogs, the combat is a key feature. Sleeping Dogs' core gameplay consists of giving the player an open world environment in which to move around freely. The game is played as an over the shoulder, 3rd person perspective action and adventure game with role playing elements. The player assumes Wei Shen, a Chinese American police officer, as Wei Shen goes undercover to infiltrate the Sun On Yee Triad organization. The player has given the ability to run, walk, jump, climb over obstacles & swim, and use weapons & martial arts in combat as well. Players also drive a various vehicles including cars, motorcycles and boats. The combat system of Sleeping Dogs revolves around hand-to-hand fighting. Sleeping Dogs' cover system allows the player to move between cover, aim freely, fire blindly, & target a specific enemy. Even individual body parts can be targeted. Wei Shen can get out & jump onto other moving vehicles while drivivng. Whilst, storyline missions are necessary to progress through the game & unlock certain content & parts of the city, players complete them at their leisure. Players can also roam freely, giving them the ability to participate in activities such as carjacking, singing karaoke, joining a fight club, visiting gambling dens betting on cockfights & participating in street races.
